8.6mn Malaysians to receive Sumbangan Cash Rahmah Phase 3 payments from 12 August 2025

The third phase of the STR scheme will involve payments of up to RM650 aimed at easing living costs for Malaysia’s low-income households.

As part of ongoing efforts to support low-income households, the Malaysia Government will begin distributing the third phase of the Sumbangan Cash Rahmah (STR) payments from Tuesday (12 August 2025). This phase will see 8.6mn recipients receive payments of up to RM650 each, with a total allocation of RM2bn.

The number of recipients in Phase Three has increased by 300,000 compared to the 8.3mn recipients who received payments in Phase 1 earlier this year in January 2025. This rise follows the government’s decision to open new applications and appeals throughout the year, ensuring that eligible individuals are not left out.

YAB Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister and Minister of Finance said: “The opening of applications and appeals throughout the year shows that the MADANI Government does not take lightly the trust it has shouldered to improve the welfare of the greatest number of people, so that no one is left out from enjoying the country's abundance.”

He added that STR aims to do more than provide cash assistance, serving as a boost for recipients to work towards financial independence and greater equality in line with the MADANI Economy.

These payments will be made either by direct credit into recipients’ bank accounts or through cash disbursements via Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN), carried out in stages according to eligibility categories.

Individuals whose names are not yet in the STR database have been urged to apply to enable verification and finalise their eligibility. Those seeking to check their eligibility status or find answers to common questions can visit the official STR portal at https://bantuantunai.hasil.gov.my.
