“Responsible” is Singapore’s most overused word

The most overused phrases in Singapore in 2013 include “responsible”, “strategic” and “effective”, according to a survey by LinkedIn.

The list of the top most overused words is compiled from LinkedIn member profiles, and shows employers and job seekers alike that being original goes a long way when marketing yourself or your company.

This is the fourth year LinkedIn has run the survey – the third in Singapore – and the words being overused online change a lot from year to year.

Compared with 2012, words like “motivated”, “track record” and “interpersonal” have fallen off the buzzword list, being replaced with words like “expert”, “driven” and “competitive”.

In 2010, “extensive experience” was the top buzzword worldwide, followed by “creative” in 2011 and 2012.
