Vietjet partners with Airways Aviation to train globally certified pilots

The collaboration will equip future pilots with internationally recognised certifications as Vietjet looks to expand its global network and strengthen its aviation workforce.

Vietjet has announced a strategic partnership with global aviation education provider Airways Aviation to train the next generation of aviation professionals, marking what is said to be a significant step in building a globally competent talent pipeline.

The agreement, signed in Finland and witnessed by To Lam, General Secretary, Vietnam during his official visit, will see Airways Aviation collaborate with Vietjet Aviation Academy (VJAA) to deliver international-standard pilot training programmes in Europe.

These programmes will follow the guidelines set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), and the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV). Specialised courses, including the Multi-crew Pilot Licence (MPL) and Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL), are expected to produce highly skilled pilots ready to support Vietjet’s expanding international network across Asia Pacific, Europe, and beyond.

This initiative comes as the airline steps up its international expansion, recently increasing flight frequencies for its Singapore–Da Nang and Singapore–Phu Quoc routes. Vietjet said this collaboration reinforces its commitment to talent development as air travel demand continues to rise.

Vietjet currently employs over 9,000 staff representing more than 60 nationalities and operates one of Asia’s youngest fleets. Its training arm, VJAA, is an IATA-accredited partner in Vietnam and has produced thousands of aviation professionals including pilots, flight attendants, engineers, and dispatchers.

Meanwhile, Airways Aviation brings more than 45 years of experience in aviation education, operating academies across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia. Its training pathways are expected to provide students with access to globally recognised standards and opportunities.

Through this partnership, both organisations aim to strengthen the aviation talent ecosystem and ensure that the next generation of pilots is equipped with the skills and certification needed to meet international demand.
