HSBC has welcomed Nina Lee (pictured) as Global Head of People Capability, Wealth and Personal Banking (WPB). Effective July 2023, she leads the formation and implementation of the bank’s talent and learning strategy in line with WPB's business objectives across the globe.

In her new role, Lee will be focusing on building the right talent pipeline with the right skillset, as well as reskilling the workforce to continue to thrive and support the bank’s growth. Presently, she is based in Hong Kong.

Coming from a diverse cultural background, and having been based in Hong Kong, New Zealand, the UK, Switzerland and Mainland China at different timelines, Lee is a seasoned HR leader with global all-rounded HR experience in both in-house and external management consulting. She has been a strategic partner to C-suite board members and a leader of multi-cultural teams to drive results in talent management, learning, recruitment, employee relations, organisational design, culture and change management areas.

Speaking to HRO, Lee sees the number one talent concern in Hong Kong at the moment as the challenge of getting high-quality calibre or talent profiles with the latest skillsets that fit the dynamic environment. Sharing from an advisory perspective, she advises: "For those who are ready to enter the workforce market, they should be open-minded and grab every opportunity to broaden their horizon and experience. For those who are already in the workforce, they can be more proactive to reskill and upskill themselves to enhance their competitiveness."

In her previous role with Standard Chartered Bank, she served as Global Head of People Capability Innovation and Insights across business lines and functions and Regional Head for Asia 21 countries. While at Accenture Management Consulting, she partnered with HSBC for five years leading global transformations in Global Procurement, CFCC and RBWM. Additionally, she has held APAC regional learning positions at investment banks including at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Goldman Sachs as well as in other industries in her earlier career.

Lee currently serves on the Advisory Board for Lingnan University Hong Kong HR Masters Programme, as well as is a career coach and executive mentor at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong. She holds a postgraduate qualification in HR Management and Training from the University of Leicester, UK.
