Up the ranks: Andrew Sam joins Globalfoundries as Head of Talent Acquisition, Asia

Andrew Sam joined semiconductors firm, Globalfoundries, as Head of Talent Acquisition, Asia and Global Executive Recruitment, effective March 2019.

In this role, he is responsible for driving all recruitment activities and initiatives in Asia as well as leading the global executive recruiting programme, as told exclusively to Human Resources Online.

With the current role covering markets including Singapore, Taiwan, China, India, Japan, and Korea, Sam said: "This new role has a larger geographical coverage and portfolio and also gives me a opportunity to guide and mentor a bigger and more diverse team."

Based in Singapore, he reports to the Global Talent Acquisition Head in the United States.

Citing the scarcity and war for talent as his top talent concern in APAC at the moment, Sam reveals his priorities for the first year will be on "the recruitment needs in Asia as well as to strengthen the employer brand".

Prior to this, Sam was the Head of Talent Acquisition, for Southeast Asia, Taiwan, and China at Applied Materials where he led all talent acquisition activity in the three markets.
