The proportion of citizens aged 65 and above increased from 13.1% in 2015 to 20.7% in 2025. By 2030, around one in four citizens (23.9%) will be aged 65 and above.
Singapore's National Population and Talent Division released its Population in Brief (PIB) 2025 report on 29 September 2025 and revealed that the proportion of the citizen population aged 65 years and above is not only rising, but at a faster pace in comparison to the previous decade, with large cohorts of Baby Boomers beginning to enter the post-65 age range.

The median age of the citizen population has also increased from 43.4 years to 43.7 years between June 2024 and June 2025. In the past 10 years, this number was at its lowest in 2015 (40.7 years).

As of June 2025, three in five (59.8%) citizens were aged 20 to 64 years, which is a decrease from 64.5% in 2015. Conversely, the proportion of citizens aged 65 and above increased from 13.1% in 2015 to 20.7% in 2025. By 2030, around one in four citizens (23.9%) will be aged 65 and above.

Furthermore, the number of citizens aged 80 and above also increased by about 60% from 91,000 in 2015 to 145,000 in 2025.

The PIB report also revealed several broader trends, such as:
- Overall, Singapore’s total population stood at 6.11mn as at June 2025, which is a 1.2% increase from the preceding year. The annualised population growth rate over the past five years (2020-2025) was also higher than the previous five-year period (2015-2020), mostly due to an increase in the number of Work Permit Holders in the construction sector to support key infrastructure projects such as Changi Terminal 5 and the ramping up of housing supply.
- The citizen population increased by 0.7% from 3.64mn in June 2024 to 3.66mn in June 2025. The Permanent Resident population remained stable at 0.54mn in June 2025.
- The non-resident population increased by 2.7% from 1.86mn in June 2024 to 1.91mn in June 2025. The increase came primarily from Work Permit Holders, followed by Migrant Domestic Workers.
- In 2024, there were 22,955 citizen marriages, 5.7% lower than the 24,355 citizen marriages in 2023, but higher than the 22,165 in 2019 (pre-COVID). Moreover, the average number of citizen marriages per year in the last five years (23,000) was lower than in the preceding five years (23,600).
- There were 29,237 citizen births in 2024, 1.2% more than the 28,877 citizen births in 2023. The average number of births per year in the last five years (30,400) was lower than that in the preceding five years (32,900). In addition, the resident total fertility rate was 0.97 in 2024, which is unchanged from the year before.
