29 October, Kuala Lumpur - It was Siemens Malaysia's night to shine at the second annual Human Resources Excellence Awards 2014, as they swooped up the three biggest titles of the evening in front of a jam-packed ballroom at the Hilton Kuala Lumpur.
The awards, hosted by Human Resources magazine, Asia’s most read and most respected source of HR news & intelligence, saw the team from Siemens Malaysia take home the HR Professional of the Year, HR Team of the Year, and the most coveted trophy, the HR Grand Winner 2014.
The HR team also picked up two silver awards, in the categories of Excellence in Employee Engagement, and Excellence in Talent Management.
Held on Wednesday night at the Hilton Kuala Lumpur, the awards saw a 270-strong crowd of HR professionals gather to celebrate their work and achievements from over the past year across 16 highly-contested categories.
The winners were chosen by a jury of senior HR leaders from various companies in Malaysia, who critiqued and assessed every entry received for this year's awards. This "by HR, for HR" process of peer assessment makes the Human Resources Excellence Awards the only awards show for the industry which places all emphasis on peer-to-peer intelligence and benchmarking.
Taking home the HR Professional of the Year Awards - the only award given to an individual HR leader - was Rahima Ibrahim, senior vice president of human resources at Siemens Malaysia.
Ibrahim said she was "overwhelmed" by the win and that she could not have picked up the award without the "incredible support of my team."
"My team won this award as much as I did," she said.
It was also a fantastic night for other companies, such as UEM Group, Star Publications, Sime Darby, eBay Inc. Malaysia, and PwC Malaysia, who each took home multiple awards last night.
UEM Group took home four silver awards last night, including Excellence in CSR Practices, Excellence in Compensation & Benefits Strategy, Excellence in Graduate Development and Excellence in Recruitment & Retention Strategy.
Star Publications also picked up a handful of awards, including four bronze trophies in the categories of Excellence in Employer Branding, Excellence in Graduate Development, Excellence in Talent Management and Excellence in Recruitment and Retention Strategy, as well as silver for Excellence in HR Social Media & Technology and gold in Excellence in Leadership Development.
“It was a highly contested judging process this year, and the winners of all the categories proved to our judging panel that they are dedicated to improving HR standards across Malaysia," said Rebecca Lewis, editor of Human Resources.
"We had a record number of companies submitting entries this year, and a fantastic turn out of attending HR professionals on the night itself, proving that the Human Resources Excellence Awards will continue to grow in Malaysia. I can't wait to see an even bigger crowd back next year for the third annual event!"
Human Resources magazine would also like to thank our sponsors, Mercer, Jobtact, Hays, NTT Data Business Solutions and IFCA HR360, along with partners Freeflow Productions, Lanyon and Heineken for supporting the awards.
