No, Malaysia Airlines isn't hiring a foreign CEO

The search for Malaysia Airlines' new CEO has created a lot of interest, much of which is "speculative and premature," said Khazanah, the airlines' majority shareholder and strategic investment fund.

The company is referring to numerous news articles which have unnamed sources reporting the impending CEO search for the airlines is focused on finding a foreigner.

Khazanah has refuted this, saying the CEO search is considering both Malaysian and foreign leadership for the top role.

The company stressed no person has been appointed at the helm yet, and the recruitment process remains ongoing.

"The search forms part of efforts to strengthen the leadership of the airline, as called for under the 12-point MAS Recovery Plan," Khazanah declared.

"The final decision on a new CEO will be made after due consideration and in consultation with the Special Shareholder, Minister of Finance, Incorporated. The outcome will be announced in due course."
