Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) and Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) have launched a centre to help inculcate a productivity mindset among Singapore's student base.
The Productivity Training Centre (PTC) is an institute of higher learning (IHL) aimed to enhance students' job readiness and view on productivity before they join the workforce.
It is aligned to the broader objective of SkillsFuture, and was inaugurated by Indranee Rajah, Singapore's Senior Minister of State for Law and Education.
The centre has been set up by NYP’s School of Business Management (SBM), to run a three-day productivity workshop by SBM lecturers for all final-year business students.

Henry Heng, senior director of NYP’s SBM, said, "We are proud to work with WDA to make this Centre a reality, and to become the first IHL to embed productivity into the mainstream curriculum of our Business School," he added.
About 120 final-year students will be involved in this applied training at PTC annually. They will work with mentors with industry-relevant experience to engage in industry projects.
Julia Ng, senior director of WDA's enterprise development group, explained that this graduating cohort will serve as a resource for joint industry partnerships, and that they look forward to having more companies on board to co-create productivity improvements.
