Diversified hospitality company Marriott International has come up trumps at Hong Kong's Asia Recruitment Awards (ARA) – beating off a competitive field of 74 finalists in 21 categories to be announced the HR grand winner – with three gold and two silver awards.

Marriott International – best known for its broad portfolio of hotels – struck gold with Best Candidate Experience–In-house Recruiters, Best Employer Brand Development and Best International Recruitment Strategy.

This year’s ARA Awards took on a somewhat different format due to the ongoing social distancing restrictions still in place. But the show must go on. And go in it did – with award winners announced by a live video feed at 5pm on 17 June.

A video recording of the event, including all the winners, can be found here:

Other winners of note included Connectus Group, which picked up to two golds for Best Candidate Experience – Agencies, and Best Executive Search Agency and two silver gongs for Best IT/Technology Recruitment Agency and Best Media & MarComm Recruitment Agency – also a bronze for Best Client Service.

DBS Bank (Hong Kong) took home gold for Best In-house Recruitment Team and two silvers trophies for Best Candidate Experience – In-house Recruiters and Best On-boarding Experience categories.

Romeo Chu, from Talent Pro Recruitment, was recognised with the highest individual award, winning Best Recruitment Entrepreneur.

A panel of 17 judges from a variety of backgrounds, with extensive experience in recruitment, adjudicated on this year’s ARA – now in its sixth consecutive year.

Commenting on the calibre of entries for 2020, one of the judges, Anna Thompson, director of HR at Swire Properties, said: “The entries were of high quality which made the judging a challenging one. I was happy to see there have been so many creative solutions to current HR challenges in employer brand development, campus recruitment, and creating positive candidate experiences.”
