Malaysia grants unrecorded leave to civil servants in conjunction with Deepavali 2023

To note, the allotment of leave without record in conjunction with the Deepavali festival does not apply to the state of Sarawak

Malaysia has announced leave without record for 2023 in conjunction with the upcoming Deepavali festival specifically for public service officers who follow the Hindu religion.

The unrecorded leave benefit allotment by region is as follows

Perlis, Penang, Perak, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Pahang, Sabah, and the Federal Territories (Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan)

November 12, 2023, Sunday: Deepavali Day
Public holiday that overlaps with the weekend

November 13, 2023, Monday: Public holiday
Per Article 3 of the General Freedoms Act 1951, if a public holiday falls on a weekend, the next day becomes a public holiday.

November 14, 2023, Tuesday: Deepavali holiday leave without record
Exemption through PSD Circular Letter.(S)800-1/1/7 Vol.4 (15) dated November 6, 2023.

Sarawak

12 November 2023, Sunday: Weekend

13 November 2023, Monday and 14 November 2023, Tuesday: The allotment of leave without record in conjunction with the Deepavali festival does not apply to the state of Sarawak because Deepavali day is not a public holiday.

Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu and Johor

November 12, 2023, Sunday: Deepavali Day: Public holiday

November 13, 2023, Monday: Deepavali holiday leave without record
