Macao announces 2026 public holidays and rest days for public employees

Office workers and public employees in Macao can look forward to 10 long weekends in the coming year.

The Macao SAR Government has released the official list of public holidays, work exemptions and compensatory rest days for public employees in 2026.

Same as in 2025, the coming year (2026) will feature 20 public holidays, alongside with six compensatory rest days.

These will give office workers and government staff 10 long weekends, spread across major festivals and commemorative days, including:

  • Easter & Cheng Ming Festival
  • Labour Day
  • The Buddha’s Birthday
  • Tung Ng Festival
  • Mid-Autumn Festival
  • National Day
  • Chong Yeung Festival
  • All Soul’s Day
  • Macao S.A.R. Establishment Day & Winter Solstice
  • Christmas

Additionally, public employees will be exempted from work on the afternoons of Lunar New Year's Eve and New Year's Eve.

Easter & Cheng Ming Festival

  • 3 April 2026 (Friday) Good Friday

  • 6 April 2026 (Monday) Compensatory rest day for the Day before Easter
