Latest visa-free arrangements for HKSAR passport holders to the UAE and Oman

The UAE is granting Hong Kong visitors 30-day visa-free access, while Oman is extending its visa-free period, effective 15 May 2025.

The HKSAR Government has announced the latest visa-free arrangements offered to HKSAR passport holders travelling to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Honorary Consulate of the Sultanate of Oman (Oman).

Starting from 15 May 2025, HKSAR passport holders, who previously needed a visa-on-arrival to travel to the UAE, may now visit the country visa-free for a stay of up to 30 days.

In addition, the visa-free stay for HKSAR passport holders visiting Oman has been extended from up to 10 to 14 days.

These new arrangements, which resulted from Chief Executive John Lee’s visit to the Middle East with the business delegation, follow earlier announced measures regarding 30-day visa-free access to Qatar.

A spokesperson of the Immigration Department said, "Qatar, the UAE and Oman are along the Belt and Road and are member states of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC). Under the Belt and Road Initiative, these visa-free arrangements and the extension of the visa-free entry period will bring greater travel convenience for HKSAR passport holders and strengthen the tourism, cultural and economic ties between Hong Kong and relevant GCC member states."

As of today, 174 countries and territories have granted visa-free access or visa-on-arrival to HKSAR passport holders.
