Menteri Besar Kedah, Dato' Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md. Nor said setting this holiday aims to provide an avenue for Hindu individuals in the state to celebrate the festival with their families.
The State Government of Kedah announced that the state will be granting a public holiday on 25 January 2024, in conjunction with Thaipusam.
This was shared during the State Government Council Members meeting on Wednesday (3 January 2024), where Menteri Besar Kedah, Dato' Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md. Nor said the holiday aims to provide an avenue for Hindu individuals in the state to celebrate the festival with their families.
Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Muhammad Sanusi added that he hopes for individuals who are not celebrating the festival to make the most of the holiday, which falls on a Thursday.
Among other matters discussed at the meeting, the State Government also approved the establishment of 'The Greater Kedah Committee Members', who will manage and consolidate the data of all government activities and companies for the preparation of annual reports to be updated, so the public can stay up to date on the current achievements carried out by the State Government in all sectors.
