Jonathan Spiers joins Cigna Hong Kong as CEO and country manager


Cigna Hong Kong announced the appointment of Jonathan Spiers as CEO and country manager to drive the medical insurer's growth in the region. In his new role, Spiers will be responsible for driving Cigna Hong Kong’s growth towards the goal of making healthcare simple, affordable and predictable. 

He will report to Julian Mengual, CEO, South East Asia & Regional Health Solutions at Cigna.

Previously based in Australia, Spiers brings more than 20 years of experience in growing market share and profit in the banking, pharmaceutical and health insurance industries, where most recently he was the divisional general manager of PHI portfolio and customer proposition at Medibank. 

Prior to that, he has held several leadership positions at international healthcare organisations such as Bupa Australia, GlaxoSmithKline Australia, Eli Lilly Australia, and in major banks such as the National Australia Bank and Commonwealth Bank of Australia.

Commenting on the appointment, Mengual said: “With over 30 years of experience in the health insurance, pharmaceutical and finance industries, and a strong track record of delivering growth through customer-centric focus, I am confident that Jonathan will successfully lead our Hong Kong business and accelerate our growth in this important market. He will continue to build on Cigna Hong Kong’s strengths and capabilities to deliver exceptional customer experience, and provide affordable, total health care solutions that meet our customers’ needs over their lifetime.”
