ISS International School on the importance of expat management

Human Resources magazine is delighted to announce the participation of ISS International School as the key supporter of the Asian HR and employee mobility community and sponsor of Workforce Mobility Interactive, Asia’s leading conference on employee mobility and expatriate management issues.

Dr. Margaret Alvarez, head of school at ISS International, will be a keynote speaker at the conference.

Taking place in Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore in February 2016, Workforce Mobility Interactive is an exclusive invitation-only conference open to director and VP-level HR professionals and senior mobility specialists from global and multinational companies.

“Research suggests that a key factor in the success of expatriate relocation is finding a good school match for the expatriate employee's children,” said Dr. Alvarez.

“It is important to realise expatriate children have a wide variety of needs that no one school fits all. International schools and HR personnel need to collaborate to better serve expatriate family needs.”

In her presentation “Navigating the maze of educational options for expatriate families”, Dr Alvarez will share the results of research and her experience with over 30 years of experience in the field of international education.

With over 25 years’ experience in education, Dr Alvarez is currently head of school at ISS International School. She previously served as associate director accreditation for the Council of International Schools, where she was responsible for overseeing international school evaluations in Asia.

Dr Alvarez is also an expatriate employee and has been a 'trailing spouse' and has two children brought up overseas in several countries. She is also the chair of the board of trustees of the East Asia Regional Council of Schools and serves on the IB Asia Pacific Regional Council.

Founded in 1981, ISS International School is an authorised International Baccalaureate (IB) World School with a multicultural environment for students from more than 50 countries.

The institution specialises in the IB programme, incorporating IB Primary Years, IB Middle Years and the IB Diploma Program. Its faculty is composed of moderators, examiners and workshop leaders for the IB organisation while some are CIS and WASC school evaluators.

The student support services ISS offers are university advising, counselling and a guardianship program. ISS was accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) in 1993 and Council of International Schools (CIS) in 2011, certified by EduTrust, and registered with the Council for Private Education (CPE) in Singapore.

To be held in Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore in February 2016, Workforce Mobility Interactive is Asia’s only regional conference on staff mobility and expatriate management strategy.

Attendance to the one-day annual event is strictly by invitation only with invitations reserved for senior in-house HR professionals. Attendance is capped at 100 delegates.

Workforce Mobility Interactive 2016 focuses on the most pressing issues pertinent to mobility and expatriate management such as international compensation & benefits, global talent management, return on investment, and regulatory compliance as well as risks and opportunities in dealing with an evolving inter-generational and diverse global workforce.
