Faces of HR: Inside Stavia Dexterina's approach to leading with trust, empowering with purpose & delivering together

"When people thrive, organisations thrive — and sustainable business success follows," the leader believes.

With more than 15 years of HR and people leadership experience across Indonesia and Asia, Stavia Dexterina (pictured above) brings a distinctly people-centred perspective to business partnering. Her career has spanned country and regional HR leadership roles at organisations including Nokia, HP, and Sealed Air, where she built experience across talent, engagement, HR operations, employee relations and change.

Now Manager – People & Capabilities Business Partnering Asia at Orica, Stavia partners with leaders and teams across the region to strengthen capability and create the conditions for people to thrive. Known for her optimism, adaptability and genuine ability to connect, she combines strategic HR leadership with an on-the-ground understanding of what matters most to employees.

When she takes the stage at #TransformTalentID, the HR leader will share how purposeful development, meaningful mentorship and strong support systems can help organisations build future-ready leadership pipelines. Before that, here's a quick get-to-know-you session with her:

Q Please tell us a fun fact about yourself that people may not know.

I naturally gravitate toward helping people grow. Whether at work or in everyday life, I genuinely enjoy connecting with people and learning their stories. I often join different group circle lunch or strike up conversations during everyday moments, such as in the pantry or common areas.

These informal interactions are often the most insightful, helping me understand what's really happening on the ground while building trust and fostering stronger relationships.

"Unstoppable is often how colleagues describe me. In challenging times, I am usually the one who remains optimistic, adaptable, and focused on moving forward."

Q What is the core belief in HR leadership that drives your leadership journey?

Business results are a reflection of how well we invest in our people.

I believe in trusting the process of developing talent, building capability, and creating an environment where individuals can grow, contribute meaningfully, and perform at their best.

When people thrive, organisations thrive — and sustainable business success follows.

Q In fewer than 10 words, what is your #1 motto for leading teams more effectively?

Lead with trust, empower with purpose, deliver together.

Q A quick preview of your session at Transform Talent 2026: what do you hope attendees will take away from your presentation this year?

I hope attendees will walk away with a fresh perspective on leadership development. Leadership should not be seen as a daunting next step, but as a rewarding growth opportunity.

We will discuss how organisations can build stronger succession pipelines through purposeful development, meaningful mentorship, and the right support systems that empower emerging leaders to step forward with confidence.
