DHL, Lotte among best workplaces in Asia

What makes a great workplace? While the answer to that question differs per person, great workplaces tend to have a few things in common, starting with putting their people first.

To recognise the companies in Asia that are creating the best experience for their employees, global research, consulting and training firm Great Place to Work has released its Best Workplaces in Asia list for 2017. Based on an assessment of the company culture and the level of trust within the company, the list features businesses with high levels of "trust, pride, and camaraderie", the report states.

According to the accompanying report, putting people first is a key priority for these companies and it is this commitment to providing strong, caring, and innovative cultures that it celebrates.

It reveals that managers behaving in a respectful way is the most significant factor for employees to have the desire to remain in the current job. Additionally, behaviours such as providing employees basic equipment for the job, management seeking and responding to employees’ suggestions and ideas, and recognising good work, are among the key elements that employees appreciate the most.

More than 1,400 companies participated in national list studies in the nine countries in the Asia region where Great Place to Work is represented: Australia, China, India, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates. The results are split up in three categories, for which we’ve listed the top 10 below.
