Among the courses, the 'CanToLearn' programme is designed to equip non-native Cantonese speakers with better language skills that help foster a greater sense of belonging and growth.

Deliveroo Hong Kong has announced the expansion of its Rider Academy to offer more than 1,500 courses to over 10,000 riders and their families for free.

As part of a new global partnership with Lynx Educate, the educational courses will be delivered by partners such as 'OpenClassrooms' and 'CanToLearn' which is backed by The Education University of Hong Kong.

The CanToLearn programme is designed to equip non-native Cantonese speakers with better language skills that help them integrate more seamlessly into the diverse cultural tapestry of Hong Kong, and foster a greater sense of belonging and growth.

With the pilot programme beginning in March, CanToLearn is expected to attract the participation of 50 riders who are not native Cantonese speakers. These riders will learn the principles of Cantonese and practise the practical application of the language in their daily tasks, helping them gain confidence in navigating a range of customer scenarios.

“Deliveroo is more than just a food delivery company – we have worked to cultivate and foster a community that encourages the education and upskilling of all riders,” said Nick Price, General Manager of Deliveroo Hong Kong.
