California Fitness to pay staff part of their salary

Staff at the closed down California Fitness chain might receive part of their compensation according to SHINEWING (HK) CPA Limited which was appointed to by the High Court court as the provisional liquidator.

The limit for every staff is set as HK$8,000, the Oriental Daily reports.  It is understood that the offer is not yet finalised, the liquidator is seeking legal advice before they can make an official announcement to employees at the fitness chain.

The liquidator will also arrange former staff member of the fitness chain to return to their workplace to pack their personal belongings.

Labour lawmaker Tang Ka Piu who is providing assistance to the California Fitness employees described he compensation as better than nothing since most of the staff members were entitled to compensation much higher than the figure out forward by the liquidator.  He said that California Fitness still has more than 16 million worth of asset which means they have enough to settle the unpaid wages of staff which is around 6 million.

Tang called for SHINEWING (HK) CPA Limited to meet with staff of California Fitness as soon as possible.
