Bursa Malaysia to close for Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays from 20-23 March 2026

Bursa Malaysia to close for Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays from 20-23 March 2026

Businesses should take note of adjusted trading schedules, including changes to derivatives night trading and continued access to selected online platforms.

Bursa Malaysia and its subsidiaries will be closed on Friday, 20 March 2026, and Monday, 23 March 2026, in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri public holidays.

The closure follows the public holiday dates announced in the Federal Government Gazette on 18 March 2026.

Operations across the exchange will resume on Tuesday, 24 March 2026.

Ahead of the festive break, both the securities and derivatives markets will continue to operate under normal trading hours on Thursday, 19 March 2026. However, there will be no after-hours (T+1) night trading session for the derivatives market on that day.

Despite the temporary closure, Bursa Malaysia said selected platforms will remain accessible. In particular, the Bursa Gold Dinar primary marketplace and Bursa Suq Al-Sila’ will continue to operate online throughout the public holiday period.

As trading resumes on 24 March, businesses have been advised to plan their activities accordingly around the adjusted schedule.

Earlier in the week, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that an additional holiday will be granted either on 20 March or 23 March for the festivities, depending on the actual day Hari Raya falls on. As a refresher, here are the relevant employee entitlements for employers to note to remain compliant with the Employment Act.
