Bizarre HR: Get inked for a pay rise

A realty boss has promised his employees a sizable pay rise if they get a tattoo of the company’s logo.

Anthony Lolli, owner of Rapid Realty in New York, got the idea after one of his employees called to inform him he was getting permanently branded with the firm’s logo.

“He calls me up, he says ‘Hey Anthony, I’m getting the logo on me.’ I show up at the shop and I’m like ‘this is cool, how can I repay you?’” Lolli told CBSNewYork.

It was then that Lolli got the idea to give staff a 15% pay rise if they got the company logo inked on themselves, and so far, 40 employees have taken up the offer.

“I was like, why am I throwing my money away when I could [get myself] from a $25,000 to $40,000 for the same amount of work?” Stephanie Barry, one of the employees, said.

The tattoos, which cost up to US$300 (S$370) each, are paid for by the company, and employees can choose the size and placement of the body art.

While Lolli himself hasn’t gotten inked, he said his turn under the needle will come eventually.
