Bizarre HR: ‘Professional sleeper’ wanted

A hotel in Helsinki is appealing for a ‘professional sleeper’ to test its 35 bedrooms for 35 days - but the job isn’t quite as easy as it sounds.

Hotel Finn is seeking a “dynamic person to write a quality blog” about their experiences at the hotel, which is very basic with no bar or restaurant, The Daily Mail reported.

However, being good at falling asleep isn’t the only qualification you will need for this role. Hotel manager Tio Tikka said the successful applicant will need to speak fluent English and Finnish – and Russian would be a plus, too.

A blog posting on the hotel’s website described the job:

“In the near future we will accommodate a person to live 35 days in 35 different rooms in the heart of Helsinki at Hotel Finn,” it reads. “This person will share his thoughts, adventures and experiences of living in the best spot of summery Helsinki. So, prepare yourself for a blog journey that you’ve never read before.”

Tikka said applications close in May and so far more than 600 wannabe ‘sleepers’ have applied.
