This will be done through the Retail Industry Vaccination programme, and recipients will include all hypermarket/supermarket workers, cashiers, management teams, security guards, and cleaners.
About 8,000 employees in Melaka's retail sector are expected to get their COVID-19 vaccinations from mid-August, through the Retail Industry Vaccination (RIVac) programme.
As cited by Bernama, Datuk Ismail Othman, State Unity, Community Relations, Manpower and Consumer Affairs Committee Chairman, said the programme, which falls under the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affair's purview, will be held at the Dataran Pahlawan Melaka Megamall.
Per the report, recipients of the vaccine as part of RIVac will include all hypermarket/supermarket workers, cashiers, management teams, security guards, and cleaners.
Datuk Ismail said: "The implementation of the RIVac programme is aimed at complementing the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme to mitigate COVID infection and to ensure that the workers in the retail sector could get vaccinated as soon as possible, so as to create a safer working environment for them."
Apart from the above, as shared by Bernama, the implementation of the Community Vaccine Mobilisation programme in the state has been intensified, with a focus on rural areas.
