From 21-28 May, road users are urged to plan their journey early and are also encouraged to use public transport where possible, giving priority to the impacted routes.
If you are living in the Klang Valley and are commuting around the state to or from work, do note that the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) will be implementing the closure of six highways and 25 main roads in stages in conjunction with the organisation of the 46th ASEAN Summit 2025 on 26 and 27 May 2025 in Kuala Lumpur.
The Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department of Malaysia has issued a statement on the upcoming road closure, stating that dry runs of motorcade movement along the affected routes from the airport to accommodation hotels around Kuala Lumpur, KLCC, and Istana Negara will take place from 21 to 22 May 2025, involving a strength of 789 senior and junior police officers.
The full assignment will begin from 23 to 28 May 2025 and road closures will be executed in phases. Road users are urged to plan their journey early and are also encouraged to use public transport by giving priority to the impacted routes as follows:
- Entry and exit to the capital,
- Route to the airport (KLIA & Subang),
- Route to KLCC
- Path to national palace, and
- Direction to accommodation hotels.
Commercial and heavy vehicles are prohibited from entering KLCC during road closure or diversions especially during peak time to avoid traffic congestion and reduce the risk of vehicle damage or road accidents.
