Up the ranks: Sherine Chua is Wyndham Hotel Group's HR director for SEA

Wyndham Hotel Group South East Asia (SEA) and Pacific Rim has appointed Sherine Chua to the role of director of human resources for South East Asia, effective 8 June 2016.

According to a statement by the hotel group, Chua is based in Wyndham's Singapore office reporting to senior vice president of HR, Bruce Harkness who is based in Wyndham’s corporate centre on the Gold Coast, Australia.

Chua is responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of HR, including talent acquisition, employee engagement, learning and development for the group’s corporate office and vacation ownership sites, as well as extend pre- and post-opening support for the managed hotels within the SEA region.

Welcoming Chua to the team, Harkness said: "Sherine is a seasoned professional in human resources and we are thrilled to have her on board to lead the team in South East Asia moving forward. She will be playing a significant role in driving our group’s expansion and laying the groundwork for our success in the region."

Commenting on her new role, Chua said: "This is an exciting period for Wyndham and I am extremely stoked to be driving the people agenda as part of the group’s larger strategic expansion plans in this region."

With over 20 years of practice in South East Asia, Chua joins Wyndham from her previous role as cluster director of human resources for two Hotel Jen properties in Singapore located in Tanglin and Orchard Gateway, where she was instrumental in the rebranding and launch of the brand in Singapore.

Prior to that, she has held leadership roles at Valiram Group Singapore, Intercontinental Hotels Group, and Raffles International Hotels & Resorts.

When Chua is not at work engaging with her peers and colleagues, she enjoys trying out new recipes to host family and friends, going for a jog to keep fit, and fishing with her friends.
