Up the ranks: Aparna Kondaboina to lead HR for Microsoft’s customers and partners solutions in India & South Asia

Microsoft has named new leaders across its India & South Asia region, with Aparna Kondaboina stepping into a key HR role, and Nitin Mittal and Himani Agrawal taking up strategic business leadership positions.

Microsoft has announced a series of leadership moves across its India and South Asia operations, effective April 2025. Among these changes, Aparna Kondaboina has taken on the role of Head of Human Resources, Microsoft customers and partners solutions (MCAPS) for the region.

Aparna brings more than 23 years of experience to her new role, having held a range of HR leadership positions across Microsoft in both India and the US. Recognised for her ability to lead organisational transformation, drive cultural change, and build strong leadership capability, she has been lauded for consistently delivering high-impact outcomes. 

In her previous role as the HR leader for the Microsoft India Development Centre (IDC), Aparna led the expansion of IDC’s footprint, helping establish it as Microsoft’s largest development centre outside of Redmond. Under her leadership, the team grew into a thriving, and diverse engineering team for Microsoft outside the US.

In her new role, Aparna will lead the HR strategy to strengthen talent and culture outcomes within the commercial business division. Her focus will be on fostering inclusive, high-performance teams and embedding a strong sense of accountability across the organisation. Drawing on her deep expertise and long-term vision, her leadership is expected to drive meaningful transformation and elevate both people and performance throughout the region.

Nitin Mittal

Joining Microsoft as Industry Leader, Digital Natives, Nitin brings with him more than two decades of experience in building digital platforms across industries such as finance, retail, e-commerce, and media. His held leadership roles at Zee Entertainment, National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), and Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). Not only that, but he also founded SOLV, a B2B platform for SMEs.

I’m excited to join Microsoft at a time when India’s digital-native ecosystem is driving global innovation. I look forward to collaborating with our customers and partners to build scalable, inclusive platforms powered by AI.

Nitin Mittal

Himani Agrawal

Himani Agrawal has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Microsoft India and South Asia. In this role, she will focus on growing the business by aligning goals across teams and improving how the company operates in the region. With over 25 years of experience, Himani has held several key roles at Microsoft, including Chief Partner Officer, where she helped expand Microsoft’s 20,000 partner network across 850 cities in India to drive AI and cloud adoption. She has also served as Chief of Staff and led the Azure and Business Applications teams, building strong teams and delivering impact at scale.

According to Puneet Chandok, President of Microsoft India & South Asia, these appointments reinforce the company’s commitment to strengthening its leadership bench with deep functional expertise and business acumen. With seasoned leaders such as Aparna, Nitin. and Himani stepping into strategic roles, Microsoft aims to deliver greater value to customers and partners, while continuing to drive innovation, growth, and organisational excellence across the region.
