HAVI to open first Asia Pacific TechHUB in Kuala Lumpur

Under the company's "Follow the Sun" operating model, the team working out of this new hub will take over work from colleagues in Lisbon as their working day ends, to allow projects to progress across time zones.

Global supply chain company HAVI is set to open a TechHUB in Kuala Lumpur in November this year, making it one of four such hubs globally and its first in Asia Pacific.

The new hub will bring together regional market expertise, digital capabilities and local and international technology talent to develop solutions for supply chains across Asia Pacific.

Its areas of focus will include AI-driven forecasting, data analytics, automation and Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled fleet management, with the aim of supporting more responsive and resilient logistics operations.

HAVI said the Kuala Lumpur TechHUB has already hired 50 technology professionals since March, and is expected to reach 100 employees by the end of the year. Roles include demand forecasting, data analytics, product management, software engineering, cybersecurity, cloud operations and change management.

"Malaysia offers the right combination of technology ambition, multilingual talent and regional connectivity to support the next phase of HAVI's growth in Asia Pacific," said Reto Sahli, Chief Digital & Information Officer, HAVI.

The company also plans to establish a talent development programme covering technical upskilling in AI, analytics, automation and cloud-based supply chain systems, alongside functional training in logistics operations and leadership development.

Daniela Ribeiro, Director of Technology Transformation,HAVI, said the Kuala Lumpur hub would form part of the company's global "Follow the Sun" operating model, working with its other hubs across different time zones.

Ribeiro added that the company would focus on developing teams that understand both technology and the operational requirements of Asia Pacific markets.

The move comes as Malaysia's logistics and supply chain sector undergoes increased digitalisation, driven by e-commerce, supply chain modernisation and demand for automation.

According to figures cited by HAVI, Malaysia's logistics and supply chain market is projected to grow from US$29.70bn in 2025 to US$31.23bn in 2026, reaching US$40.11bn by 2031.

The company also cited RM87.4bn in approved digital investments in Malaysia in 2025, which are expected to create more than 31,000 high-value jobs.
