As of 18 May 2021, as many as 1,758 complaints have been received involving doubtful payments and employee salary issues.
Malaysia's Human Resources Minister, Datuk Seri M Saravanan, has called out the issue of abuse of employees' personal information as well as fake claims by employers for the PERKESO Career Generator Programme incentives, in a press conference on 19 May 2021.
He shared that as of 18 May 2021, as many as 1,758 complaints have been received involving doubtful payments and employee salary issues. Out of that, 1,231 complaint cases were found baseless; however, a total of 340 cases are suspected to be related to false claims and misuse of incentives. The remaining 187 cases are still under investigation.
As such, the cases are now in custody of the Anti-Fraud investigation, Ethics and Compliance Branch, and if needed will be referred to enforcement agencies.
Minister Saravanan added: I am with the Ministry in taking this issue seriously and will take strict action against any employer who makes false claims."
