Saraf Furniture to hire more than 500 LGBTQ+ employees as part of Pride Month plans

The furniture brand aims to open 50 new stores staffed largely with LGBTQ+ talent over the next three years.

In a move highlighting its commitment to diversity & inclusion, Saraf Furniture has announced plans to hire more than 500 employees from the LGBTQ+ community. This initiative is part of its broader expansion strategy, in line with Pride Month and focusing on creating meaningful employment opportunities for LGBTQ+ individuals.

The company intends to open 50 new retail outlets across India over the next three years. Notably, Saraf Furniture’s goal is to staff these new stores predominantly with members of the LGBTQ+ community within the next three years.

Saraf Furniture, known for its direct manufacturing of solid Sheesham wood furniture, currently has LGBTQ+ employees across various departments. As shared by the company, the positive outcomes of this approach are reflected in its employee retention rate, which exceeds 90% among LGBTQ+ staff, demonstrating a supportive and welcoming work environment.

Raghunandan Saraf, Founder and CEO of Saraf Furniture, said: "We view our expansion not only as opening a new front for customers but as a means to provide opportunities, dignity, and a sense of belonging."

In addition to hiring initiatives, Saraf Furniture plans to hold sensitisation workshops for its current workforce. The company also aims to deepen partnerships with LGBTQ+ advocacy groups and enhance internal support systems for their staff.
