Reminder for Malaysia employers: Applications for hiring of foreign workers will soon open up

That said, Minister of Human Resources, M. Saravanan cautioned employers not to apply through middlemen or third parties to avoid being scammed.

Malaysia's Minister of Human Resources, M. Saravanan has reminded employers that applications for hiring of foreign workers will soon open up, and they must be prepared to submit their estimates into the portal.

This he said after a meeting with PIKAP (Malaysian National Association Employment Agencies) to get feedback on matters related to the recruitment of foreign workers, as the agency will be helping to facilitate the processing of the applications for foreign workers.

It was previously announced (in December 2021) employers in Malaysia are allowed to re-employ foreign workers with a valid temporary working visit pass (Pas Lawatan Kerja Sementara, or PLKS) through the Rehiring Programme on a year-by-year basis, up to a maximum of five years.

Further, Bernama shared: "At the Cabinet meeting on December 10, it was agreed that foreign worker recruitment is open to all sectors other than the plantation sector. Permitted sectors are agriculture, manufacturing, services, mining and quarrying, construction, and domestic helpers."

On that note, the Minister reminded employers not to apply through middlemen or third parties for the recruitment of foreign workers to avoid being scammed. He cautioned: "Use the services of a private employment agency that is registered and has a license certified by the Department of Manpower."
