Vietnam’s 2026 public holiday calendar provides extended breaks for Lunar New Year and National Day, offering organisations an opportunity to plan workforce coverage and operational continuity well ahead of time. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), the longer holiday windows also allow employees and businesses to prepare meaningfully — whether it’s travelling home, reuniting with loved ones, or simply enjoying a well-deserved reset.
Under the approved schedule, public sector employees will observe a nine-day Lunar New Year holiday from 14 to 22 February 2026 (Friday to Sunday). The National Day break will run for five days, from 29 August to 2 September (Saturday to Wednesday).
Below is the list of the public holidays throughout the year:
| Date | Public holidays | Day | Duration |
| 1 Jan 2026 | New Year’s Day | Wednesday | 1 day |
| 14 – 22 Feb 2026 | Vietnamese Lunar New Year | Saturday – Sunday | 9 days |
| 25 – 27 Apr 2026 | Hung Kings Commemoration Day | Saturday – Monday | 3 days |
| 30 Apr 2026 | Reunification Day | Thursday | 1 day |
| 1 – 3 May 2026 | International Labour Day | Friday – Sunday | 3 days |
| 28 Aug – 2 Sep 2026 | Independence Day | Saturday – Wednesday | 5 days |
While the schedule applies to administrative bodies, public service units, and socio-political organisations, private sector enterprises retain flexibility to determine their own holiday arrangements. However, employers are required to notify employees at least 30 days prior to implementation. Depending on production and business needs, companies may arrange one to three days off before Lunar New Year and two to four days after the new year begins.
Authorities have encouraged ministries, agencies, and localities to proactively implement measures to ensure business continuity and stable socio-economic activity during the holiday periods. Agencies and units that do not implement a fixed schedule for weekly Saturdays and Sundays will base on the specific program and plan of the unit to arrange a suitable holiday schedule, in line with the provisions of law.
Foreign employees working in Vietnam are also entitled to additional days off for their home country's traditional festivals and National Day.
Currently, Vietnam observes 11 official public holidays annually. These include:
- New Year’s Day (one day),
- Lunar New Year (five days),
- The Hung Kings’ Temple Festival (one day),
- The 30 April – 1 May holiday (two days), and National Day (two days).
