The Labour Department has received a request for assistance from an affected employee and has urged the employer to properly resolve all outstanding employment matters.

Local pizza chain Pizza-BOX has reportedly closed its final remaining store in Hong Kong.

The closure was first flagged on social media by a customer on Monday (26 January), who noted that the last outlet in Kwun Tong had not opened.

The chain’s website has now gone offline, and calls to its customer service line have gone unanswered.

A garage owner near the Kwun Tong shop told the media that the branch had already been closed since 22 January, with a shutdown notice posted at the site.

According to local media reports, the Labour Department (LD) has received a request for assistance from an employee who claims to have not been paid for more than three months. The LD has contacted the person responsible for the chain, urging Pizza-BOX to address all employment issues appropriately and advising affected staff who are owed wages or other entitlements to seek official support as soon as possible.

Pizza-BOX was a long-standing takeaway pizza chain in Hong Kong. Originally launched in the 1980s as Domino’s Pizza, it was rebranded as Pizza-BOX in 2003 following the end of its franchise agreement. At its peak, the chain operated 14 outlets across the city.
