Human resources leaders from Penang have joined forces to tackle the issue of increasing female participation in the Malaysian workforce.
A network of employers in Malaysia's northern region for together at the Women's Summit 2014 - organised by Dell, Agilent Technologies, AMB and Intel, alongside Talent Corporation Malaysia (TalentCorp) - to discuss how they can better improve talent retention by encouraging flexible working and parent-friendly working environments.
These diversity advocates are HR leaders from the region, including Jenny Ooi, senior human resources director at Agilent Technologies; Shankar Nagalingam, human resources director, South Asia and ANZ at Dell; Dr. Florance Sinniah, human resources director at AMD Malaysia; and Vimaleswari Ramasamy, HR shared services centre director at Intel Malaysia.
“We are pleased to welcome private sector partnerships in advocating gender diversity and work-life practices," said Johan Mahmood Merican, Chief Executive Officer of TalentCorp at the event.Â
"We are optimistic that more can be achieved with employers coming together to collaborate on various initiatives to retain women in the workforce."
The Summit also provided an avenue for career women and managers who advocate workplace diversity to network, engage, share and deliberate ideas and best practices to help them progress in their career.
