MasterCard and INCEIF's new scholarship for women

MasterCard and the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF) have partnered to launch a new scholarship titled the MasterCard – INCEIF Scholarship for Women.

It is aimed at boosting the pipeline of female talent in the Islamic finance sector.

MasterCard will offer the scholarships to two full-time female students in INCEIF Master's programmes for Islamic finance each year, as part of a three-year agreement. It will be based on: academic records, financial needs and contribution to the community.

Scholarship recipients will also be offered a one-year contract to work with MasterCard upon graduation - at their offices in Malaysia, Singapore or Indonesia, where there is a growing Islamic financial landscape. This would give students the exposure to gain valuable industry experience.

"As a university by the industry for the industry, it is heartening to have an industry player, one with such prestigious credentials, as a partner," Dzalin Ayub, chief operations officer, INCEIF, said

"We welcome any initiative to contribute towards developing human capital in this rapidly growing industry as there are various opportunities for all, women included."

MasterCard has had similar initiatives in the past, including the recently launched MasterCard Scholarship for Women at SUTD and the MasterCard MBA Scholarship for Women at SMU which started in 2011.
