HR job moves: Willie Cheng switches from Asia Miles to SCMP

Effective February, experienced HR pro Willie Cheng has moved to South China Morning Post as director, people partner. This follows his departure from Asia Miles where he spent just over three years as head of people.

In his new role at Hong Kong’s oldest English-language media company, he is responsible for strategy and execution in attracting, deploying, retaining and motivating staff and achieving business plans and objectives through proactive HR services and programmes.

Prior to his time at Asia Miles, Willie cut his teeth with a variety of HR roles at Cathay Pacific Airways from 2002-16 culminating in a rise to people manager – Hong Kong. During this time he also spent three years as talent manager – leadership development at John Swire & Sons (2011-15).

Willie also holds an Award for Excellence for HR Leaders (World HRD Congress) and a certificate of completion for the Mental Health First Aid Standard Course.
