Markus Wiesner to lead Heidrick & Struggles' consulting business in APME region

Heidrick & Struggles has appointed Markus Wiesner as Heidrick Consulting's Regional Managing Partner for Asia Pacific and the Middle East (APME) region. He will take over from Ian Johnston, who will continue to focus on driving growth and market share for the firm upon his return to Europe. This change is effective 1 March 2021.

Based between Dubai and Singapore, Markus had been the Managing Partner of Heidrick Consulting's Global Growth Markets for four years before being appointed to this role. Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, he was CEO for Middle East and Africa at Aon Hewitt. He also spent nine years at Mercera. Markus has 20 years' consulting experience and has spent the last 12 years in the Middle East, advising C-suite executives on HR issues.

Andrew LeSueur, Global Managing Partner, Heidrick Consulting, said: "Markus has shown tremendous ability in growing client relationships and scaling our consulting business. We are looking forward to his leadership and having him continue to develop and implement the go-to-market strategy and operating model for our consulting business in Asia Pacific, along with his ongoing responsibilities in the Middle East and emerging markets."

Chubb names Peter Kelaher Country President for ANZ

Insurance firm Chubb has appointed Peter Kelaher Country President for Australia and New Zealand (ANZ). In his new role, Kelaher, who is currently SVP and Head of Property and Casualty (P&C) for ANZ, will have executive operating responsibility for the company's general insurance business, including commercial P&C, traditional and specialty personal lines, and accident and health insurance. He will oversee all facets of the business including strategy, product and business development, underwriting and service operations, and profit and loss performance. The appointment is effective immediately.

Kelaher will report to Paul McNamee, Senior Vice President, Chubb Group and Regional President of Asia Pacific. He succeeds Jarrod Hill, who is leaving the company.

McNamee said: "Peter has taken on increased responsibility over the last several years and has proven to be an outstanding leader with the experience and skills to continue to drive the business forward. His extensive network, as well as his deep understanding of Chubb and general insurance, will allow us to continue to grow and maximize our opportunities."

Kelaher has 20 years of insurance industry experience. He joined the company in 2008 as a financial lines underwriter and has since moved up the ranks.


Pedersen & Partners welcomes Caroline Qian in Shanghai and Charupat Sangwong in Bangkok

Executive search firm, Pedersen & Partners, has welcomed Caroline Qian in the Shanghai office as a Principal. She comes with over 15 years of executive search and management consulting experience, and was previously a Senior Management Consultant with a leading talent advisory firm. She is an International Coaching Federation certified PCC business coach.

Meanwhile, in Bangkok, Pedersen & Partners has appointed Charupat Sangwong as Principal. She has more than 15 years of professional experience, with postings in China and Thailand. Prior to taking this role, Sangwong worked for a global search firm, based in Bangkok for a five-year stint.

"Charupat’s addition to our Asian team is an important step in our ongoing efforts to expand our strong presence in the APAC region. Her comprehensive knowledge of the local and international executive talent markets and her management consulting expertise will be an asset to our Bangkok team and will add significant value to Pedersen & Partners clients throughout the region," said Nisit Krutkaew, Client Partner and Country Manager for Thailand.
