How L&D initiatives drive profitability at Lloyd’s Register

Corporate learning programmes are widely regarded as a cost but the fact is that, if done correctly, these activities are an investment which leads to greater profitability.

Some companies, however, have yet to measure L&D’s contribution to corporate profits.

At Training & Development Asia, the region’s only learning & development conference for HR leaders and learning & development specialists, the most credible thought leaders and HR practitioners will thoroughly tackle the bottom-line value of L&D initiatives.

“Uncovering the ROI of L&D starts with determining the types of programs that can make a positive impact on an organisation’s strategic direction,” said Aditi Sharma Kalra, regional editor of Human Resources magazine.

“Discussions at Training & Development Asia 2016 will focus on how to design and implement long-term strategic priorities that can actually drive returns.”

Training & Development Asia 2016 is a two-day regional conference for HR managers and senior learning & development specialists which will take place in Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore in June.

Namrata Kohli, SEA head of human resources at Lloyd's Register, will discuss the importance of diverse teams in her keynote presentation entitled “Leveraging diversity to improve business performance through learning.”

She will examine the claim of analysts that Fortune 500 companies lose a combined $31.5 billion a year from employees failing to share knowledge. She will also demonstrate how to build a culture where learning is anchored on sharing of skills, knowledge and experience. Another highlight of Kohli’s session is the effect of diversity and inclusion on performance and innovation.

Another presentation that will explore the organisational value of corporate learning is “How to reap maximum returns from your L&D initiatives?” Topics under this lecture are the sustainable behavioural change that takes place at all levels, including senior management commitment, and evaluating how talent strategy can strengthen corporate results.

Training & Development Asia 2016 delegates will learn about the effectiveness of training programs in a lecture entitled “Maximize your training programs to reduce cost and drive revenue.”

This will provide methods on how to assess training programs and ascertain the L&D strategies that have been proven effective. Esteemed speakers will show how programs can strengthen productivity, a crucial factor in boosting company profits and costs savings.

Among the leading companies represented in past Training & Development Asia conferences were AXA, KPMG, Sanofi, Seagate Technology, Shell, Singapore Telecommunications, Visa and many more.

All presenters & panellists, such as Elma Diala-Pangilinan, HR business partner and head for learning and organisational development of Nielsen Company, are director or vice president level HR professionals with regional responsibility.

Held in Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore in June 2016, Training & Development Asia is the region’s biggest conference on learning & development strategy.

The two-day annual event is focused on best practice corporate learning strategy, features an agenda dominated by case studies and leading global thought leadership, and attracts a large audience of senior HR generalists and learning & development specialists as well as and CEOs, CFOs and COOs closely involved in their companies’ learning & development strategy.
