Golden Village to close Tiong Bahru cinema after 32 years

Staff who are affected will be redeployed to other GV cinemas.

Golden Village Multiplex (GV) has announced on its Facebook page that GV Tiong Bahru will close following the end of its lease.

"We’re incredibly grateful for your support and for all the memories shared with us over the last 32 years,” GV posted.

In response to queries from Human Resources Online, GV confirmed that nine staff are affected by the closure, all of whom will be redeployed to other GV cinemas. The company said it has decided not to renew the lease and remains focused on delivering cinema experiences across its other locations in Singapore.

The final day of operations will be 29 March 2026 (Sunday), with GV advising patrons to visit nearby outlets, including GV Funan, GV Cineleisure, and GV Grand at Great World, for future screenings.

GV Tiong Bahru has been serving the community since 1994, screening a mix of major blockbusters and special event films. In its announcement, it extended its thanks to patrons, partners, and the Tiong Bahru community for their support over the past 32 years.
