Financial rewards have undergone changes over the years. What they are and how they affect compensation packages across job functions will be examined at Employee Benefits Asia, the region’s biggest conference dedicated to compensation & benefits. After its successful event in Singapore last 2-3 August, Employee Benefits Asia will be held in Hong Kong on 9-10 August and in Malaysia on 17-18 August.
“The evolving needs and career goals of employees in each stage of employment add layers of complexity to the implementation of monetary rewards schemes,” said Aditi Sharma Kalra, regional editor of Human Resources magazine. “Employee Benefits Asia 2016 will explore how major companies and benefits specialists cope with those changes as they design strategies for short-term and long-term cash rewards.”
Here is how one of the topics, cash rewards programmes, will be presented.
For the presentation entitled “Creating a transparent performance cash rewards programme to drive excellence,” Peter Ling, chief organisational development officer at Mah Sing Group, will show how to match the needs of attracting & retaining the top performers with a competitive cash reward system. His discussion will touch upon the best practices in evaluating job performances for multi-level workforce: senior management and mid management. Techniques on how to empower line managers in cash rewards within guided principle/policy will also be presented.
The link between salary increases and job performance will be the main topic of the presentation entitled “Driving an excellent performance by reinforcing the rewards programme.” Deborah Mannas, group head of human resources at Wallem, will discuss how to implement a fair and standard assessment process when offering salary increments. Mannas will compare the effectiveness of long-term pay rises and bonuses in terms of employee retention.
Theresa Chong, group human resources director at Amoy Food, Kris Lui, global head of human resources at C&A, Sunny Fong, senior director, rewards, mobility & HRBP at McDonald’s, Deborah Mannas, group head of human resources at Wallem, and Anthony Wong, editor at Human Resources, will lead the panel discussion entitled “The best practices of one-off bonuses and long-term pay rises.” The panellists will analyse the impact of one-off bonuses and long-term pay rise plan and determine which rewards are more practical and popular among employees.The group will pinpoint the fairest way to calculate bonuses and share experiences in developing plans for a long-term pay rise.
