NEA has said that winds are expected to shift over 17-18 October, which could reduce the transport of smoke haze from Kalimantan to Singapore.
Singapore's National Environment Agency (NEA) has stated that over the 17-18 October weekend, more showers are forecast over Singapore and parts of Kalimantan.
In further welcome news, NEA has said that wind direction is expected to shift to blow from the southeast or south. This, potentially, could reduce the transport of smoke haze from Kalimantan to Singapore. Some smoke haze from Sumatra may however still drift towards Singapore.
This is in the agency's latest haze situation update issued on 15 October.
For reference, as of 10am on 16 October (Friday), the air quality (i.e. 1-hr PM2.5 reading) remains in the Elevated level in all parts of Singapore, except in West where is in the High range of 151-250.
Some showers are expected over Singapore and the surrounding region on Friday, but southern Sumatra and parts of Kalimantan are likely to remain dry.
