3M's walk-in recruitment exercise attracts more than 1k applicants

Last Saturday, 3M attracted over 1,000 applications, generating social media buzz when a video showing the long queue outside 3M Tuas Plant was shared on All Singapore Stuff's Facebook page.

A spokesperson from the US-based conglomerate known for science and innovation told Human Resources: "We are heartened by the response to our walk-in recruitment exercise at the 3M Tuas Plant last Saturday, having received over 1,000 applications."

The 3M Singapore spokesperson stated that the hiring exercise was part of the expansion strategy for 3M Tuas Plant announced in 2016.

"We have dozens of openings across six different job categories in production. These include operators, production technicians, lab assistants, lab technologists, maintenance, and system technologists."

Declining to reveal the number of positions available, citing business confidentiality, the spokesperson said 3M's recruitment exercises take place across different platforms several times a year depending on business needs.
