The five most popular companies among Malaysians

Companies in the oil and gas sector are all the rage among Malaysian professionals today.

The pages of companies in this industry had the maximum number of local followers on LinkedIn, according to a new study by the company, with Shell and PETRONAS emerging most popular.

Schlumberger, SapuraKencana Petroleum and AirAsia rounded up the top five companies followed by Malaysian LinkedIn members respectively.

However, the Malaysian companies most followed by LinkedIn’s global members were more diverse.

While the energy sector dominated this category as well, with PETRONAS in first place and SapuraKencana Petroleum in third, AirAsia from the aviation industry took second rank.

The banking and finance sector also featured on the must-watch list of LinkedIn's global members with Maybank and CIMB in fourth and fifth rank respectively.
