Malaysia's SMEs can appeal for the Special Prihatin Grant from 7 to 21 December

Malaysia's Ministry of Finance has opened up the Special Prihatin Grant (GKP) for appeals from 7 to 21 December 2020.

According to the media statement posted on Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz's Facebook page, this will provide an opportunity for applicants to submit an appeal together with supporting documents to be reviewed/verified by the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDNM). Appeal applications can be made online at the GKP Portal, https://gkp.hasil.gov.my.

The GKP is a one-off financial assistance for eligible small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Amounting to RM3,000, it is meant to alleviate the financial burden these businesses face due to the spread of COVID-19. The assistance also aims to increase production productivity and services for the survival of micro SMEs.

To date, nearly 850,000 micro SMEs have received GKP and GKP 2.0, with a total sum of RM2.55bn disbursed.

The GKP and GKP 2.0 are the Malaysian Government's way of demonstrating its ongoing commitment in assisting the micro SMEs affected by the pandemic.

To ensure that micro SMEs are truly eligible to receive GKP 2.0, each application is cross-checked with agency data set by the Government until 31 August 2020, including the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), Local Government (PBT) and Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDNM).
