San Yan Ng takes on an expanded remit after eight years leading lululemon’s China business, while Jeffrey Hang joins as Senior Vice President and General Manager of APAC.
Athleisure brand lululemon has announced two leadership appointments across China and Asia Pacific (APAC) as the company continues to expand its presence across the region.
San Yan Ng (pictured above, left) has been promoted to Regional President of China and APAC after eight years as General Manager of lululemon’s China business. This expands her responsibilities across both regions.
Meanwhile, Jeffrey Hang (pictured above, right) has joined lululemon as Senior Vice President and General Manager of APAC, bringing more than two decades of experience leading consumer and retail businesses across Asia Pacific and China.
Commenting on the appointments, André Maestrini, Interim Co-CEO, President and Chief Commercial Officer, lululemon, said China and APAC are important regions for the company as it continues to increase its presence in these markets.
He added that Ng’s expanded remit and Hang’s regional experience would help the company strengthen its local relevance and grow its community of guests across the region.
The new leadership structure will bring lululemon’s China and APAC businesses under shared leadership, which the company said would allow it to leverage market insights, scale capabilities, and respond to the different needs of consumers across markets.
In her new role, Ng will lead and drive lululemon’s strategy across both regions. The expanded role is intended to strengthen alignment between the company’s China and APAC businesses while keeping the organisation connected to the distinct needs of individual markets.
“I am honored to take on this expanded role and continue working alongside our talented teams in China and APAC,” Ng said.
She noted that both regions present opportunities shaped by different consumer needs, cultures and market dynamics, adding that drawing on the strengths of local teams would be important as the business moves forward.
Ng joined lululemon in January 2018 and has since played a key role in building the company’s China business, which has grown into one of its most important international markets.
Her previous leadership experience across China and the wider Asia Pacific region has also given her an understanding of the consumers, markets, and trends shaping the region.
Meanwhile, Hang joins lululemon after more than 20 years of experience leading premium brands across Asia Pacific and China.
Most recently, he served as Managing Director for Bulgari across Southeast Asia, India, Australia and New Zealand; and prior to that, Senior Vice President and CEO of Louis Vuitton China.
Having lived and worked across Mainland China, Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, Singapore, and Japan, Hang brings experience across a range of markets in the region.
In his new role, he will lead lululemon’s teams across the region, reporting to Ng and focusing on accelerating growth, strengthening the company’s presence and supporting its longer-term ambitions.
“I am delighted to join lululemon at a key moment in the company’s growth journey,” Hang said.
