Malaysia's PM Muhyiddin holds first meeting with JPM

At 8:30am on 6 July (Monday), Malaysia's Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin held his first meeting with members of the Prime Minister's Department, after taking over the role on 1 March, and the nation's Movement Control Order which commended on 18 March.

The meeting followed the National Security Council's COVID-19 prevention guidelines, i.e. attended by no more than 250 people comprising three senior management or representatives from 56 agencies under the JPM. This was in addition to temperature checking, attendance recording, wearing a face mask, and practicing social distancing.

Starting out with the national anthem and a prayer, PM Muhyiddin addressed the civil servants: "I am grateful that for the first time we are able to hold a monthly assembly that we were supposed to hold a few months ago but couldn't because we were going through a very difficult time."

The meeting comes soon after the country recorded the lowest cases of COVID-19 transmission on 1 July, that is, zero cases of local infection and one imported case.
