Up the ranks: Philip Morris Malaysia leverages Sunny Sharma's experience in his new role as Director of People & Culture

In this role, Sharma will guide strategic initiatives, as well as develop people & organisational culture in the organisation.

Philip Morris (Malaysia)(PMM) has recently appointed Sunny Sharma as the company’s new Director of People & Culture.

In his new role, Sharma will guide strategic initiatives, develop people & organisational culture in Malaysia, whilst keeping leadership development, employment engagement, well-being and organisational effectiveness as his primal focus. 

Moreover, he is committed to continue driving a positive workplace culture and developing the talent mix and career development within PMM.

Sharma assumed his role as Director of People & Culture after gaining more than 13 years of experience across prominent global fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) companies like Procter & Gamble, Reckitt and Philip Morris International. 

Adding on to his portfolio, his professional journey has taken him across diverse geographies, enriching his understanding of cultures and markets, including India, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and the UAE.

In his previous role as Head of People & Culture for Commercial Operations in 2019 at PPM, Sharma was promoted to Head of Leadership Development & Strategic Projects for Asia in 2021. In a year, he worked his way to become the Regional People & Culture Head for South Asia & Southeast Asia. 

Naeem Shahab Khan, Managing Director, PMM shared his thoughts on the appointment, saying: “We are excited to have Sunny onboard to assist in navigating our transformative journey, driving Malaysia to become a smoke-free nation."
