Malaysia's Form E (CP8D): How to fill out new compulsory Employee Status & End of Contract details

Under the new 'Employee status' column, six different options are provided, including Management, Permanent, Contract, and Intern.

In March 2024, Malaysia introduced two new compulsory columns in its Form E (or Form CP8D) — namely, ‘Employee Status’ and ‘Date of Retirement' / 'End of Contract’.

Under Form CP8D, employers are to declare information on the number of employees in their workforce, as well as employee income, for the year of assessment. The form is to be submitted to the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IBRM, or Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (LHDN)).

‘Employee status’

Under this new column, six different Employee Status options are provided:

  • Status 1: Management of the organisation
  • Status 2: Permanent
  • Status 3: Contract
  • Status 4: Part time
  • Status 5: Interns
  • Status 6: Others

To note, management of the organisation are referred to company directors, cooperative society’s board members, association's controlling members and partners of limited liability partnership.

Should there be a change in status, employers are to fill in the latest Employee status.

Example: Employees are offered jobs with contract status and later on appointed as permanent workers. In this case, the latest Employee Status for the employee is 'Status 2'.

‘Date of retirement'/'End of contract’

Under the Date of retirement/End of contract column, employers are to fill up the retirement date according to the employment contract or according to any written law or fill in the contract ended date according to the employment contract.

If the employee has been terminated, quit, or been dismissed in the year of remuneration, employers are to fill in the termination date in the year of remuneration.

Example: 15-12-2025 (dd-mm-yyyy)
