Deadline for taxpayers in Malaysia to submit Form E and CP8D online extended to 31 May

The Inland Revenue Board stated that the extension is meant to provide more time for eligible individuals to apply for the role of director/employer before submitting the e-E and e-CP8D forms.

Malaysia's Inland Revenue Board (IRB) announced on 26 April 2024 (Friday) that the deadline taxpayers to submit Form E and CP8D has been extended to Friday, 31 May 2024.

According to a press release by IRB, the additional one-month extension was meant to eligible individuals sufficient time to apply for the role of director/employer before submitting the e-E and e-CP8D forms.

Guidelines on applying for the director or employer role can be found on the MyTax portal, and the slides can be found here.

IRB also shared the time extension for the following:

  • individuals, partnerships, organisations, and estates — 15 days
  • companies, cooperatives, limited liability partnerships, and trusts — one month
  • petroleum — one month

IRB stated: "Taxpayers are advised to declare their income by submitting the e-Form and make payments (if any) within the prescribed period to avoid any penalties and tax increases.

"Taxpayers are also advised to key in and update their personal and banking information accurately to assist in the tax refund process (if any),” it said.

As a reminder, effective 1 January 2024, it is mandatory to file taxes via the Board's e-services, accessed through the MyTax Portal.
