Apple announces expansion of campus in Ang Mo Kio, Singapore

The expansion is part of plans to create space for growth and new roles in AI and other key functions.

Apple has announced its plans to invest over $250mn to expand in Singapore and grow its campus in Ang Mo Kio. 

According to a press release by Apple, the expansion is the latest milestone for Apple's more than four decades of fostering job creation & deep connections with the local community.

It will provide space for growth and new roles in AI and other key functions. 

Tim Cook, CEO, Apple said: "Singapore is truly a one-of-a-kind place, and we are proud of the connection we’ve built with this dynamic community of creators, learners, and dreamers."

"With our growing campus, Apple is writing a new chapter in our history here.

"Our Singapore teams have played an important role in enriching the lives of our customers — and we can’t wait for many more decades of innovation to come." he added. 

Starting off with 72 employees at its first facility in Singapore 1981, Apple now has a team of more than 3,600 employees based in the country. 

In a post following the announcement, Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong shared in an Instagram post: "[I am] glad that Singapore is now a regional hub for Apple, and home to three of their retail stores.

"I look forward to the completion of the expanded campus!" 

Construction to expand Apple's campus in Ang Mo Kio is set to begin later this year. Two buildings acquired in 2022, located adjacent to the company’s existing offices, will undergo a major upgrade and will bring three spaces together with the aim to foster greater collaboration within the company's various teams.
